Meet the team

Nichola Lawton BSc (Hons) Bio Medical Science

Company Founder and Director

I started the company back in 2005 as a post graduate in Bio Medical Science from John Moores University in Liverpool. I started out with a laboratory in Liverpool and opened 23 DNA Clinics around the UK. My passion has always been to provide people with the best possible advice and support for the testing service they are looking at. I feel we achieve this by having a team of highly educated and dedicated individuals, who also believe in my values.

A lot has happened since 2005 and I have learned a lot as a woman in business. I am proud of what we have achieved, and it still gives me great satisfaction to give opportunities to graduates as they start their careers as young scientists.

I am very much a family person outside of the business. My passion is spending quality time with my family, reading and walking my 4 beautiful dogs!

Jemma Major BSc (Hons) Bio Medical Science

Quality Assurance Manager

My role at Crystal Health Group is Quality Assurance Manager. This involves a lot of technical knowhow to comply with all the accreditations that we must maintain! I graduated from John Moores University in Liverpool with a Bio Medical Science degree back in 2004. Since then I have worked in the Life Science sector in many roles including the NHS and Pathology, and a time living and working in South Africa.

I enjoy the technical part of my role within the company and learning about any new innovations within the testing industry. I also get a sense of satisfaction when we pass our external ISO and Network Rail audits, showing that all the hard work throughout the year has paid off!

Out of work, we have twins who keep us very busy. When we can, we head off to our cottage in South Wales to relax and attempt to wear the twins out!

Olivia Bligh BSc (Hons) Neuroscience

Senior Clinical Advisor

As a Senior Clinical Advisor, I get to talk to people about the science behind the different tests that we offer. I graduated from Manchester University with a Neuro Science Degree and it’s great that I get to put aspects of the Life Sciences to use daily.

The most satisfying part of my job is being able to provide people with the answers they are looking for. It’s also great when I get involved in some of the larger commercial projects, I get a great sense of achievement when everything goes to plan!

Outside of Crystal Health I am an avid Norwich City fan. Even though I live in Manchester now, I still follow the Canaries whenever I can!

Emma Jones BSc (Hons) Medical Bio Chemistry

Senior Clinical Advisor

My role at Crystal Health Group is to put in layman’s terms how each of our tests work. It’s important that the clients I speak to have a full understanding of how the test can give them the answers they need. My degree in Bio Medical Chemistry has given me the experience and skills to quickly adapt the way I talk to people based on their own understanding of the tests we offer.

I get satisfaction when we help families find the answers they need using DNA testing. You do get the full range of emotions with this job, making people happy is probably the most rewarding thing about my role.

Outside of the office I am a bit of a geek and love anything Harry Potter!

Danielle Delos Angeles BSc (Hons) Bio Medical Science

Senior Clinical Advisor

As well as speaking to clients about the tests, a big part of my role is coordinating the commercial drug test results. I graduated from Manchester University with a Bio Medical Science degree. My science background has given me the skills I need to interpret results and talk clients through these when needed.

We also do a lot of drug testing for families in difficult situations. Giving advice and support about their results is the biggest satisfaction I get from my job.

Outside of work I have a passion for travel. The best place I have visited (so far!) is Singapore. I loved the people, the environment and the food, I look forward to going back there one day!
