Look at the language used in a DNA test review

Our experience tells us that individuals who have had a DNA test usually do not want to leave a review about it! We think this is due to the sensitive nature of the service. So, we do question the hundreds and sometimes thousands of reviews posted to DNA testing review sites. As a company, we have been approached by several review sites advertising paid subscription services. This raises concerns about the validity of DNA testing reviews posted to these sites.

So, what DNA test reviews can you trust then? Unfortunately, there is no fool proof way of knowing if a review is fake or not. For example, a recent BBC news report highlighted the problem of fake reviews on Amazon. However, there are some key things to look out for when choosing a company for your DNA test:

• Is the laboratory accredited to UKAS 17025 and Ministry of Justice approved?
• Scrutinise the reviews on their website. If there are lots of 5-star reviews and all written in a similar language, they could be fake.
• In addition, are the reviews anonymous? Again, this could raise questions about the source and validity of the DNA test review.
• Look at reviews that have been posted to Google for example. If the reviewer has lots of other reviews against other products and services, this could indicate that it is a genuine DNA test review.
• Is the company UK based, what accreditations do they have? For example, Crystal Health Group also provide occupational health services to Network Rail, a good indication of the regulations that a company must operate under.

Customer feedback – the good and bad

As part of our ISO 9001 Quality Management System, we always ask for feedback from our DNA test clients. This is part of the DNA results package that we send with every single laboratory report. While its nice to receive good feedback, we also act on the things we could do better. As a result, you are helping us to continually improve the DNA testing service we offer to all our clients.
