Drug and Alcohol Testing

We are a long established and reputable provider of drug and alcohol testing services in the UK. All our chain of custody policies and procedures have been developed using our RISQS (Rail Industry Supplier Qualification Scheme) accreditation. As a result, we deliver gold standard drug and alcohol testing service to all of our clients. This includes direct to the public, workplace drug testing, and key services to solicitors, social services, and government departments.

Drug and Alcohol Testing

The drug and alcohol testing process is simple

  • First, our Clinical Advisors will determine your needs based on individual, business, or legal requirements. This will help us choose the correct drug test and sample type for you.
  • Apart from the home drug testing kit, all our drug and alcohol tests are appointment based. As a result, you can choose a drug testing clinic to visit, or we can provide on-site testing.
  • There are a lot of options, but once you are happy with your choice of test, we will coordinate all appointment arrangements for you.
  • Finally, we will administer your drug and alcohol test results. This can be in the form of rapid screen results, or a UKAS 17025 accredited laboratory drug test report.

What Drug and Alcohol Tests are available?

Types of Drug & Alcohol Tests
  • A urine drug test has a detection window of around 4 to 5 days*. Available as both an instant on-site drug screen and laboratory test, urine drug testing is by far the most popular workplace drug test we offer.
  • A saliva drug test, also known as an oral fluid drug test, has some advantages over urine drug testing. With a detection window of around 1 – 2 days*. Again, this test is available in both instant screen and laboratory test formats.
  • The hair drug test can effectively determine historical drug use for up to 6 months. It is the test of choice for courts requesting individuals to prove abstinence. As a result, it is the most popular drug test ordered by solicitors and social services.
  • Hair alcohol testing is usually performed in conjunction with a blood alcohol test or PEth testing. In addition, it is sometimes ordered with a hair drug test as requested by a court.
  • Blood alcohol testing is usually performed with a hair alcohol test to provide the most complete picture of alcohol consumption. This is a venous blood collection rather than the PEth blood spot test.
  • PEth testing is a blood spot test that analyses direct alcohol markers in blood. There are key differences between this and the standard venous blood alcohol test. However, more courts are now ordering the PEth test as an alternative.
  • Breath alcohol testing is usually provided in conjunction with the urine or saliva drug tests. Furthermore, there is normally no additional cost for having this with a drug test. In addition, all of our breath alcohol devices are Home Office approved to comply with Network Rail requirements.
  • Industry specific drug and alcohol testing can be provided for workplace drug testing. For example, we are RISQS accredited to perform Network Rail D&A testing. In addition, specific drug testing panels can be ordered to suit your industry requirements. For instance, we can provide a drug panel suitable for working at power stations around the UK.

* Some drug groups such as cannabis can be detected for longer.
